About the Role

As a Principal System Safety Engineer serving as the Safety Lead, you will be the technical expert and project manager responsible for the establishment and execution of major safety programs for DoD Missile systems. This role sits at the intersection of advanced engineering and strategic leadership, requiring the application of MIL-STD 882E across hardware, software, firmware, and personnel.

In this onsite position based in Aurora, CO, you will lead program safety teams and interface with program and functional leadership. You will act as a bridge between engineering disciplines and government approval authorities, ensuring that safety features are integrated into the product from design through demilitarization. Your day-to-day involves engaging in engineering review boards, managing safety budgets, and mentoring junior engineers to foster a robust safety culture. You will interpret complex system requirements and military standards to recommend compliance strategies to Chief Engineers and Program Managers, ensuring that hazards are eliminated or effectively controlled across all integrated product teams.

Hiring Process and Application

This position requires an active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance prior to your start date. U.S. citizenship is mandatory, as only citizens are eligible for this level of clearance. The DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS) handles the clearance process.
