Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is seeking a Principal Material Process Engineer / Sr. Principal Material Process Engineer to join the Sentinel program in Huntsville, AL. This role is designed for individuals who are self-motivated and capable of working independently to provide innovative technical solutions to complex problems. You will collaborate with systems engineers, design engineers, project managers, and reliability engineers to establish clear part, material, and process design documentation traceability to system performance.
In this position, you will operate within an overarching Systems Engineering framework to ensure streamlined risk identification and mitigation for weapon systems and equipment. You will be expected to maintain close coordination with several integrated product teams and provide detailed status to program leadership. The role involves creating, analyzing, and producing roadmaps, impact reports, and issue reports to present data to stakeholders, customers, and upper management.
This position offers a competitive relocation assistance package and follows a standard 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Travel is required for approximately 10% of the time.

Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering. Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-105E/ISO 2859-1, MIL-STD-1540, or MIL-STD-31000/310. Understanding of process/procedure development, control, and improvement. Passion for material properties, semiconductor electronics, corrosion, or metallurgy. Experience in test plan writing and reviewing, negotiation soft skills, service life testing, reliability sampling, and failure analysis. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance. Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in high-value customer presentations. Experience in an Agile environment and knowledge of JIRA. Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification. NIST-based calibration accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025).
