The Rich Lab at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is dedicated to identifying novel therapeutic paradigms for advanced cancers, with a primary focus on malignant brain tumors. Our research leverages stem cell biology to uncover core regulatory pathways amenable to pharmacologic targeting. We aim to deepen the understanding of cancer stem cells, their interaction with the tumor microenvironment, and underlying genetic driver mutations in human cancers.
Our laboratory has made significant contributions to therapeutic resistance, circadian rhythm, cancer epigenetics, epitranscriptomics, tumor organoids, and cancer metabolism. A driving force in our research efforts is the strategic leverage of patient-derived tissues and collaborations with complementary research groups, including oncologists at nearby hospitals and scientists at the Laboratory for Systems Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School.
