About the Role

As a Porter at RWB Thrift, you serve as the air-traffic controller of the backroom. Your role is vital in anticipating the needs of production support staff before they arise, ensuring supplies are available and correctly placed to keep the production floor flowing smoothly. You play a key part in maintaining a safe work environment by prioritizing cleanliness, organization, and the clear flow of traffic, actively identifying and removing hazards from walkways.

Your attention to detail and ability to execute tasks in a fast-paced environment contribute to a positive working experience for our production employees and help streamline overall operations. The position requires flexibility, as you may be asked to switch tasks or departments based on operational needs, working across all areas to support a collaborative team environment.

A Day in the Life

Your shift may involve a variety of dynamic responsibilities depending on the needs of the store:

• Trailer Loader / Unloader: Safely and efficiently load and unload items from delivery trucks or trailers, including furniture, clothing, electronics, and other donated goods. You will sort and organize these items, document arrivals, and move merchandise to designated areas within the store.
• Trash Compactor Operator: Manage waste efficiently by operating and maintaining compactor equipment, ensuring proper disposal of discarded items, and compacting materials to optimize space.
• Organizer: Oversee supply management within the backroom by receiving, organizing, and replenishing essential items such as hangers, sensors, racks, carts, and bins to ensure timely availability on the production floor.

Throughout your day, you will interact regularly with customers, donors, and coworkers, fostering a collaborative and customer-focused atmosphere. The work environment is dynamic, characterized by bright lighting, a consistently busy atmosphere, and varying noise levels due to bustling activity on the sales floor and production area.
