The City of Hallandale Beach is seeking dedicated individuals to join our police force as a Non-Certified Police Officer. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of law enforcement activities, including patrol, investigation, and traffic regulation. This position serves as the foundation for a career in public safety, requiring you to successfully complete a rigorous academic and physical training curriculum at an established Police Academy.
You will work under the direct supervision of Training Advisors, Police Officers, and command staff, receiving supportive guidance as you develop the skills necessary to serve the community. The role is designed for those committed to upholding the law and maintaining public order while undergoing professional development.
The selection process is rigorous and includes several mandatory steps. All applicants must submit an online application with specific attachments in PDF format, including proof of education, a valid Florida driver's license, and other required documentation.
If your application is selected, you will be invited to attend a mandatory police orientation and take a written civil service exam. Participation in this exam is required; failure to participate will result in disqualification from the position. Following the exam, qualified applicants may be subject to an extensive screening program, which can include background investigations, medical evaluations, and controlled substance screens.

Veteran's Preference: The City of Hallandale Beach values the service of veterans and actively recruits them. Veterans and qualified spouses may receive preference and priority in hiring. To obtain this preference, you must submit separation papers (DD214) and the Veterans' Preference Certification form along with your application.
We offer a competitive starting salary of $62,000.00 for Non-Certified Police Recruits while attending the academy. Additionally, new hires are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus, split as $4,000 upon successful completion of the police academy/certification and $6,000 upon successful completion of the probationary period. Eligible newly employed certified officers may also receive a one-time bonus payment of $5,000 after taxes through the Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Payment Program.
