Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake, and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
In this role, you will locate and design supports for various piping systems, performing associated calculations to ensure quality and cost-effective outcomes. You will work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers, coordinating with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required. The position involves developing designs for complete and complex 3D model equipment layouts and pipe designs, often with minimal supervision. You will also be responsible for reviewing calculations, design models, and drawings prepared by assigned designers to ensure compliance with approved standards, accuracy, and functionality. Additionally, you will participate in constructability reviews and generate 2D drawings or 3D CAD design models of high complexity.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Selected candidates will be subject to a security background investigation and must meet all eligibility requirements for access to classified information, including the ability to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. This includes passing a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Note that non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns are subject to additional security requirements that may limit site access.
