Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where daily operations are driven by a commitment to national security and public safety.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot and law enforcement officer, performing aviation-based operations to secure the nation's borders. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career that combines the precision of professional aviation with the mission-critical nature of federal law enforcement. You will work alongside a dedicated team to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land, air, and sea. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a full-time, security-based position offering exceptional job stability and the chance to make a tangible impact on border security.
The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous, designed to identify the most qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply: submit the Air Interdiction Agent applicant checklist and resume via email to a recruiter, apply directly through USAJOBS, or apply through Airline Apps. Highly recommended, candidates can also opt into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment to determine their suitability for the role. Upon completion of the assessment, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. New hires must be willing to work at any duty location within the selected region, which includes the Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB), and National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC) UAS locations. Candidates must also successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) as a condition of employment.
AMO is committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. As a federal law enforcement agency, we adhere to strict citizenship and residency requirements, including a maximum age limit for original appointment (currently 40 for this specific role, with provisions for veterans' preference eligibility). We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health and dental insurance, a generous leave program, and a robust retirement plan. Join us to be part of a mission-driven team where your skills are essential to the safety of the nation.
