About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will be front and center, interacting with customers and developing strong patient relationships. The courses, learning activities, and resources provided in our training program are designed to give you foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences you need to prepare to become a certified pharmacy technician.

Walgreens is proud to invest in and champion an "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician Training Program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program gives you an entry point to a career in health care by guiding you in taking steps towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician. The program helps you maintain the high level of skill required in the pharmacy care industry, arming you with a nationally recognized, portable credential that will help you advance your career.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleAssist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision
- check_circleUse pharmacy systems to obtain patient information and process prescriptions
- check_circleAdminister clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples
- check_circleVerify medicine accuracy and check for possible drug interactions
- check_circleRegister sales on cash registers and handle cash transactions
- check_circleEngage customers by greeting them and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience
- check_circleProcess and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription services
- check_circleAssist with inventory management including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments
- check_circleMaintain a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department environment
- check_circleRetrieve, count, and pour pharmaceutical drugs to fill prescriptions
Requirements
