About the Role
The Pharmacy Tech Outpatient Pharmacy Buyer operates under the supervision of a pharmacist, adhering to Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) regulations. This role is designed to ensure the continuous availability of medications while minimizing acquisition costs through strict adherence to established contracts. Beyond standard pharmacy technician duties, the buyer assists the pharmacist-in-charge with advanced tasks, serving as a critical link in the outpatient pharmacy workflow.
Day-to-Day Impact
In this position, you will manage pharmaceutical and supply inventories, process invoices, and maintain accurate pharmacy records. You will play a key role in inventory integrity by identifying drug shortages, managing the return of recalled or expired medications for maximum credit, and troubleshooting insurance claims. As a "Super-User" for outpatient pharmacy technologies, you will evaluate and resolve technical issues to support seamless workflow. Additionally, you will provide guidance to Level I technicians and assist in training pharmacists on departmental policies, regulations, and technology systems.
Shift and Schedule
This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule.
