About the Team
Hurley Medical Center and Children's Hospital, located in Flint, Michigan, are affiliated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, the University of Michigan, and other top Midwest universities. As a 457-bed tertiary-care public hospital, Hurley serves as the primary training site for combined Pediatrics residents and Flint-based medical students. About the Role
We are seeking an energetic and dynamic Pediatric Neurologist to join the faculty team. This academic position focuses on outpatient and consultative inpatient care for neurology patients, including infants, children, and adolescents. The role involves treating complex conditions such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, ADHD, autistic spectrum disorders, neuromuscular disease, migraines, traumatic brain injury, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, spina bifida, chiari malformation, ataxia, and meningitis.
As a faculty member, you will teach resident physicians and medical students while participating actively in the academic community. The position offers opportunities for research and leadership roles within a multispecialty clinic. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, along with a willingness to work with an urban population. The team utilizes award-winning, physician-friendly EMR technology.
Work Environment
The clinic operates in a collegial atmosphere that is small enough to form meaningful relationships with learners and colleagues but large enough to provide interesting cases and opportunities to make a difference. Clinical locations include:
- Hurley Pediatric Specialists - Linden Road: Located on South Linden Road in Flint, with convenient highway access and proximity to shopping districts.
- Hurley Children's Center: Situated atop the Flint Farmers Market on East First Street, directly across from the Michigan State University Flint Campus.
- Hurley Pediatric Specialists - Rashelle Drive: Located on Rashelle Drive in Flint.
- Inpatient Care: Provided at Hurley Medical Center, which overlooks the downtown area.
Flint and the Genesee County area offer quick access to outdoor activities including hiking, camping, swimming, skiing, boating, biking, and golfing. The region is rich in cultural offerings, including movies, theater, concerts, and festivals. The area is served by Bishop International Airport, known for stress-free travel, and is home to Michigan State University, the University of Michigan-Flint, Kettering University, and Mott Community College.
