The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking an Orthoptist to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to our mission of delivering high-quality clinical care while optimizing the patient experience through sensitivity to wait times and clear communication.
As an Orthoptist at the University of Miami, you will evaluate and treat non-surgical eye movement disorders and associated sensory deficiencies. You will independently perform orthoptic diagnostic tests for patients with ocular motility disorders and formulate comprehensive treatment plans. Your work will involve providing clear instructions to patients and family members regarding diagnoses and care strategies.
In this capacity, you will assist in teaching pediatric ophthalmology fellows, residents, and medical students, fostering the next generation of eye care professionals. You will staff various clinics, including pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus clinics, ensuring the timely delivery of specialized care. Additionally, you may perform duties of an ophthalmic technician as needed and participate in research projects and case presentations.
