Vistra Nuclear Operations Company is a global leader in the energy sector, committed to a culture of people who exceed customer expectations, embrace teamwork, and maintain a competitive spirit. As part of the Vistra family, you will join a team dedicated to effective communication and operational excellence within the nuclear power industry.
The Nuclear Performance Assessor serves as an independent evaluator of overall station performance, tasked with identifying problem areas where the facility is not meeting targets for excellence. Reporting to the Senior Director, Fleet Performance Assessment, this role requires a senior nuclear manager with broad expertise capable of critically evaluating functional and cross-functional areas.
The scope of this function is to identify shortfalls in organizational performance through monitoring and intrusive oversight. You will provide critical input regarding organizational weaknesses to corporate leaders, including the Vistra CEO, Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO), and Chief Nuclear Officer Operations (CNOO). Onsite, you will provide direct feedback to senior station leaders at the director level. With the oversight of the Senior Director and the Site Director of Organizational Effectiveness, you will have the authority to escalate issues that are not being adequately resolved to department managers, directors, the Plant Manager, or the Site Vice President to ensure effective and timely actions are taken.
Your day-to-day involves reviewing performance against industry standards, including documents such as 19-003 Staying on Top and IER 21-4 Improving Plant Reliability. You will engage in a variety of activities to gain perspective on performance, such as meeting with Performance Improvement and NOS personnel, observing in-plant activities, attending key meetings, and interviewing leaders and workers. Regular debriefs with the Senior Director and Site Director will be essential to discuss developing issues, identified shortfalls, and insights for improving performance.
