UPMC Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI) is a renowned health system integrating clinical excellence with a commitment to patient-centered care. As part of a $23 billion healthcare provider and the largest non-governmental employer in Pennsylvania, HVI collaborates closely with the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences to advance world-class medicine. The institute is celebrated for its innovation and its ability to support physicians in practicing high-quality care without the constraints often found in hectic urban settings.
The specific team at UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon serves Mercer and Lawrence counties in western Pennsylvania. These neighboring community teaching hospitals joined forces in 2016 to provide regionalized care, combining over a century of tradition with modern medical capabilities. The practice is currently expanding to add beds and services, replacing a retiring physician and growing its capacity to serve a grateful community.
We are seeking exceptional clinicians who want a career that matters and a life outside of medicine. This full-time, clinical academic appointment offers a unique opportunity to make an immediate impact on a community that values its physicians. You will join a team of exceptionally trained physicians from around the world who have chosen to stay because living and working here is hard to beat.
In this role, you will provide inpatient and outpatient services at UPMC Jameson and/or UPMC Horizon locations. You will be fully supported by an experienced team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), allowing you to focus on advancing care rather than administrative burdens. The position includes a weekly rotation with the practice and shared weekend coverage (1:4), ensuring a sustainable work-life balance. You will not be consumed by chasing unrealistic productivity targets, nor will you waste time stuck in traffic or doing mundane charting.
Located near the Ohio border in the "Lakeland Area," this region offers the best of both worlds: beautiful suburban and small-town living with easy access to major metropolitan areas like Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Erie, and Youngstown. Residents enjoy abundant recreational and cultural activities, including local parks, hiking and biking trails, skiing, golfing, museums, live music venues, and waterways for fishing, sailing, and swimming. The region features charming college towns, rural areas with ample land, and unique shopping options ranging from large outlet malls to local boutiques. It is a place where families are celebrated, and professionals are supported in building fulfilling personal lives alongside their careers.
We are currently seeking candidates eligible for 2026 or 2027 entry. Some visas are supported for qualified international candidates. If you are interested in joining a growing program where your challenging professional life and rewarding personal life can thrive, please apply.
