About the Role
The Custodian at Hastings High School plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and the community. This position is essential to the daily operations of the school, ensuring that facilities are ready for learning and events from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
In this role, you will be the face of the district's facilities management after hours. Your day involves a dynamic mix of routine maintenance and responsive care, from deep-cleaning restrooms and disinfecting high-touch surfaces to managing grounds maintenance like snow removal and weed control. You will work closely with the Director of Buildings and Grounds, the Lead Custodian, and the Building Principal to ensure the school remains operational and inviting.
Beyond cleaning, you will serve as a professional liaison with students and staff, fostering a respectful atmosphere while performing essential tasks such as minor repairs, setting up facilities for events, and monitoring district communications. This position requires physical stamina and adaptability, as you will frequently lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
