Mission Hospital is the flagship facility of Mission Health, located in Asheville, North Carolina. As a 815-bed regional referral center, it stands as the region's only Level II trauma center and the only provider of open heart and interventional cardiology west of Raleigh. The hospital also houses Mission Children's Hospital, the region's only children's hospital with 30 pediatric sub-specialists.

About the Nurse Residency Program

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Mission Hospital is a year-long initiative designed to shepherd new graduates through the transition from student nurse to registered nurse. This paid program provides a supportive community of nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents to foster learning, clinical application, and professional socialization.

Residents will engage in a formalized series of learning experiences, including advanced clinical training in a specialty area, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, and hands-on simulations. The program emphasizes mentoring from experienced nurse leaders and collaboration on evidence-based practice projects. The goal is to equip you with the tools necessary to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage."
