Methodist Hospital Texsan is a 120-bed acute care hospital and one of South Texas's premier heart and orthopedic facilities. We are certified in chest pain and heart failure with comprehensive cardiac services, and our orthopedic services, including the Joint Replacement Academy and the Center for Spine, deliver some of the best clinical results in the industry. We utilize state-of-the-art technology, including a robotics program, to achieve excellence.

About the Residency Program

The Methodist Healthcare Residency Program is a year-long initiative designed to support the transition from student nurse to registered nurse. This paid program creates a supportive community of nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents to foster learning, clinical application, and socialization. Residents are shepherded through this critical career phase with hands-on experience, advanced clinical training in a specialty area, and mentoring from experienced nurse leaders.

The program includes a formalized series of learning experiences such as monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training with a facility preceptor, and measurement of skills through hands-on simulations. Residents also work collaboratively on an evidence-based practice project. Currently, the program offers opportunities in the Rehab specialty.
