Established in 1974, Henrico Doctors' Hospital is a 340-bed community hospital operated by HCA Healthcare. Our organization consists of three community campuses—Henrico, Parham, and Retreat Doctors' Hospitals—along with the free-standing Hanover Emergency Center. We offer specialized services in cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, oncology, physical therapy, women's services, and a 24/7 emergency department.
Envisioned by a group of independent physicians to provide high-quality care in an accessible community setting, we remain committed to our founding principle: "Bricks and mortar do not make a hospital. People do." We are actively hiring for our 2025 and 2026 Nurse Resident cohorts to join a supportive community dedicated to the growth and development of future nurses.
The HCA Nurse Residency Program is a year-long, paid initiative designed to shepherd you through the transition from student nurse to registered nurse. This program provides the tools necessary to succeed in today's hospital environment by surrounding you with nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents who promote learning, clinical application, and socialization.
As a Resident Graduate Nurse, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care consistent with state and specialty standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, performing procedures and medication administration, and advocating for patients and their families. You will work collaboratively with medical providers to provide individualized, compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage."
The program features advanced clinical training in a specialty area, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship with a facility preceptor, and hands-on simulations. You will also engage in mentoring from experienced nurse leaders and collaborate on an evidence-based practice project. Flexible start dates are available, though shifts depend on unit needs at the time of hire.
We promptly review all applications. If you are looking for an opportunity that provides satisfaction and personal growth, we encourage you to apply today to unlock your potential with a leading healthcare provider.
We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We are committed to the growth and development of our future nurses and invest in your health, life, career, and retirement through a comprehensive total rewards package.
