This Network Engineer position supports the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate in designing, implementing, and securing network infrastructure for space technology experiments and mission operations. You will play a critical role in enabling hardware/software-in-the-loop testing environments, ground system operations, and multi-classification level network architectures.
In this role, you will work with classified networks, cross-domain solutions, and cloud computing architectures while ensuring strict compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements and Authorization to Operate (ATO) standards. The position requires a proactive mindset and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to enhance the organization's security posture for cradle-to-grave space mission support, ranging from CubeSats to ESPA-class spacecraft.
This is a full-time, office-based position with occasional access to data centers or network equipment rooms. The role may require lifting and installing networking hardware (up to 50 lbs) and on-call availability for network incidents. Candidates must be capable of working within Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPFs).

Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE (Cisco certifications), Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, etc.), DoD 8570/8140 compliance certifications. Experience: Supporting space mission operations or satellite ground systems, familiarity with hardware/software-in-the-loop testing environments, knowledge of SD-WAN, network automation, and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, etc.), experience with Mission Operations Center (MOC) network architectures, understanding of spacecraft communications protocols and telemetry systems, experience with multi-classification network architectures in operational environments, background in DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integration, experience supporting Air Force Research Laboratory or DoD research environments.
