About the Role
The MT/MLT (ASCP) - Generalist serves as a vital member of the laboratory team at Shore Medical Center, performing a comprehensive range of laboratory procedures in strict adherence to established hospital and departmental policies. This role is designed to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of patient testing, acting as a critical link between specimen collection and clinical decision-making.
In this position, you will manage the full spectrum of laboratory workflows, from the accurate collection and processing of specimens to the execution of STAT and routine orders within strict time limits. A key aspect of the role involves utilizing quality control measures to establish standards and making informed decisions based on data. You will be responsible for recognizing and reviewing abnormal or inconsistent results, taking appropriate action immediately, and communicating critical values to the medical team in accordance with policy.
The day-to-day environment requires strong teamwork and the ability to prioritize workload based on volume and urgency. You will maintain clear communication regarding workstation status with appropriate personnel, including on-coming shifts, to ensure seamless operations. Additionally, the role involves performing and evaluating instrument functions and conducting routine maintenance safely to keep laboratory equipment operating at peak efficiency.
