Founded in 2001, Mastery Schools is a public charter network of 23 K-12 schools in Philadelphia and Camden, serving more than 14,000 students. Our mission is to provide all students with the academic and personal skills they need to succeed after graduation and pursue their dreams. Student achievement is not just a goal; it is the reason we exist. Every member of our team is dedicated to securing student success, pursuing equity, actively disrupting systemic racism, and addressing the disparities that limit our students' choices.
Our culture is built on respect, service, and the belief that the success of our students, families, and communities helps us achieve our mission. We foster a positive, open, and inclusive environment where honesty, humor, and continuous improvement are celebrated. Together, we are creating a model urban school district that serves all students with excellence.
At Mastery, "all means all." Nearly one quarter of our students have individualized education plans (IEPs), and we believe these plans create opportunities for teachers, parents, administrators, and students to work together to improve educational results for children with disabilities. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible for our diverse learners.
As a Special Education teacher at Mastery, you will deliver robust, research-based interventions and frequently monitor progress to make logical adjustments that produce the best possible outcomes. Our highest priority is ensuring our diverse learners spend as much time as possible within the general education setting, minimizing time in self-contained classrooms. You will join a network with multiple classrooms tailored towards Autism Support, Emotional Support, Life Skills, Multiple Disability Support, and Multi-Lingual Learner Support.
You will have access to a wide variety of Common Foundation research-based curriculums and intervention programs in Reading, Math, and Writing. Mastery highly values continuous improvement, offering frequent embedded opportunities for professional development, teacher coaching, skill building, and data-driven instruction meetings to accelerate your growth as an educator.
Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every task listed in a job description. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the role, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. Mastery may consider an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.
Mastery Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
