About the Role
Under the direction of the Managing Senior Medical Editor, the Medical Editor serves as a guardian of editorial quality, ensuring all communications meet the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, consistency, and style. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between scientific rigor and effective marketing, working independently to fact-check content, proofread copy, and maintain strict adherence to the American Medical Association (AMA) Manual of Style, client brand guides, and agency standards.
The Medical Editor acts as a subject-matter expert, collaborating closely with Editorial Services, Medical Services, and Creative Services teams. The position involves navigating the full project lifecycle—from annotating materials for medical, legal, and regulatory review to verifying final layouts and digital programming against approved manuscripts. Success in this role requires balancing the need for precision with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks across various therapeutic teams while maintaining professional integrity and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleFact-check, substantively edit, and proofread promotional marketing communication materials
- check_circleAnnotate and cross-reference promotional materials for client medical, legal, and regulatory review
- check_circleAttend client review meetings and incorporate changes resulting from those reviews
- check_circleCheck layouts and digital programming for completeness and accuracy against manuscript drafts
- check_circleEnsure accuracy and completeness of reference lists in all deliverables
- check_circleCollaborate with Medical and Creative Services teams to convey editorial comments and ensure accuracy
- check_circleAssist colleagues with editorial problem-solving, troubleshooting, and brainstorming
- check_circleAttend product status meetings to track upcoming and in-progress editorial projects
- check_circleCreate and maintain project-specific style guides to ensure consistency across projects
- check_circleDetermine and obtain copyright permissions for figures and tables while communicating costs
Requirements
