As a Mechanical Designer, you will lead the development of your discipline's construction documents, taking ownership of the design package from concept to completion. In this position, you will guide a Drafter, providing direction based on their current understanding of the discipline while ensuring the final deliverables are constructible and compliant. Your success relies on a deep understanding of your discipline and design principles, allowing you to define the project scope through calculations, specifications, and rigorous adherence to the scope of work.
You will serve as the primary point of contact for your discipline's content, coordinating with other designers to develop the overall project scope. This role is designed for someone ready to transition from executing tasks to managing the integrity of the design package, including verifying code compliance, annotating documents, and performing performance analysis using specialized software tools.
Your work spans the entire project lifecycle. During the design phase, you will research standards to identify scope gaps, develop specific details, and determine the composition of your discipline package. You will lead client coordination, internal, and discipline coordination meetings, ensuring clear communication and accurate meeting minute notation.
During the construction administration phase, you will support the Project Engineer by learning the critical importance of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Submittals. You will actively participate in site observations and design validation, revising packages based on RFI responses, updating models, and converting "red to black" as-built records into final design documents.
This position is a full-time, in-office role located in the metro Phoenix area. We are not seeking remote workers, out-of-country support, or hybrid arrangements. Candidates must be willing to self-relocate to the Phoenix area if not currently local. US work authorization is required.
