Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, with a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Founded in 1998, the company has grown through strategic acquisitions, often integrating family-owned businesses that remain integral to the team today. IWS proudly combines the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run enterprise.
We are committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our diverse client base includes industrial, medical, and commercial/residential sectors.
As a Level B Fleet Mechanic/Technician, you will serve as a journeyman-level expert responsible for the independent diagnosis and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across refuse trucks, heavy tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment. This role is pivotal in ensuring high fleet uptime and strict DOT compliance.
Your day-to-day involves more than just repairs; you will mentor Level C technicians, guiding them on best practices, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniques. You will respond to road calls and breakdowns throughout the NYC tri-state area, performing safe temporary or permanent repairs to return vehicles to service. Additionally, you will play a key role in continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on PM compliance, reducing repeat repairs, and standardizing parts.
