About the Role

As a Level B Fleet Mechanic/Technician, you will serve as a journeyman-level expert responsible for the independent diagnosis and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across refuse trucks, heavy trucks/tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment. This role is critical to maintaining high fleet uptime and ensuring full DOT compliance.

In this position, you will not only troubleshoot complex systems ranging from diesel engines and drivetrains to hydraulic refuse equipment and multiplex wiring, but you will also play a key leadership role by mentoring Level C technicians. You will guide them on best practices, safety protocols, and proper repair methods. Your day-to-day involves responding to road calls and breakdowns throughout the NYC tri-state area, performing safe temporary or permanent repairs to return vehicles to service, and communicating clearly with dispatch and supervisors on repair status.
