About the Role

The Level B Fleet Mechanic/Technician serves as a journeyman-level expert within our fleet maintenance team. This role is critical for maintaining the high uptime and DOT compliance of our refuse trucks, heavy tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment. As a key technical resource, you will independently diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, ensuring our vehicles remain safe and operational.

Beyond hands-on repair, this position plays a vital leadership role in our shop culture. You will mentor Level C technicians, guiding them on best practices, safety protocols, and advanced troubleshooting methods. Your day-to-day involves responding to road calls and breakdowns throughout the NYC tri-state area, coordinating with dispatch and drivers to resolve issues efficiently, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce repeat repairs and standardize parts usage.
