Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, with a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral to our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
Our mission is to deliver high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. We serve a diverse range of industrial, medical, and commercial/residential clients, ensuring reliability in the complex urban environments of the tri-state area.
The Level B Fleet Mechanic/Technician serves as a journeyman-level expert within our fleet operations. This role is designed for an independent problem-solver who can handle the full spectrum of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic challenges on refuse trucks, heavy tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment. Beyond technical diagnostics and repairs, this position is vital to our operational continuity; you will be the first line of defense during road calls and breakdowns, ensuring high uptime and strict DOT compliance.
In this capacity, you will not only maintain the fleet but also elevate the team. You will mentor Level C technicians, guiding them on best practices, safety protocols, and advanced troubleshooting methods. Your work ensures that our vehicles are not only repaired but that recurring issues are identified and resolved through root-cause analysis, supporting our continuous improvement initiatives.
Interstate Waste Services is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
