Under the direction of the Supervisor, Books Production, this role ensures the efficient handling and movement of materials throughout the facility to support product processing. The position is integral to the daily operations of the warehouse, requiring a blend of physical stamina and attention to detail in a dynamic production environment.
The day-to-day responsibilities involve picking books for customer orders using RF handheld devices and placing selected items into appropriate containers, such as totes on conveyor lines or book trucks that must be manually moved. Team members are also responsible for stocking and shelving inventory, scanning materials, and researching any stocking errors. Additionally, the role requires entering order fulfillment data into SCS and Oracle systems, processing labels for special accounts, and capturing images of materials to assist in proper processing or stripping materials for re-processing.
This position operates in a production environment that may be subject to varied temperatures, noise from conveyors, and dust. Success in this role requires the ability to stand and walk for 8-hour shifts, frequently bend, and lift up to 40 lbs (occasionally up to 70 lbs), as well as push book trucks weighing several hundred pounds. The role is subject to scheduled overtime based on production needs and may involve cross-training for tasks of higher classification.
