The Department of Medicine and Primary Care at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician educator and leader to serve as founding faculty in Internal Medicine. This full-time position is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor, with the specific academic rank determined by The Chicago School & IllinoisCOM academic rank policy.
The ideal candidate will be a dedicated educator, accomplished clinician, and innovative leader with expertise in Internal Medicine. As the Section Chief, you will oversee the development and delivery of the Internal Medicine curriculum, support faculty recruitment and development, and foster a collaborative, student-focused environment that aligns with the mission and values of the IllinoisCOM and The Chicago School. Your leadership will drive curriculum innovation, clinical partnerships, research initiatives, and community engagement to ensure the program trains physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that integrates both physical and mental health.

Experience as a department chair, program director, or senior faculty leader in an accredited medical school or residency program. Strong background in educational innovation, simulation-based training, and competency-based assessment. Established record of research and scholarly activity in primary care or medical education. Demonstrated commitment to health equity, diversity, and inclusion in clinical practice and medical education. Clinical practice experience (strongly encouraged).
The Chicago School of Shoemaking & Leather Arts Inc. operates as a specialized educational facility within the retail apparel and fashion industry, based in Chicago, Illinois. Since its establishment in September 2011, the organization has focused on leather work and footwear construction training. The school supports artisans and assists entrepreneurs in launching businesses centered on these crafts. Founder and CEO Sara McIntosh, an independent custom shoe and bootmaker with a career dating back to 1974, leads the institution alongside other instructors trained at the school who teach beginner and intermediate classes.
The school has served thousands of students, including both career seekers and hobbyists. Beyond education, it maintains a retail store offering local artists access to leather and hardware. The organization has collaborated with a major shoe store chain to develop and manufacture their own footwear line and partnered with a cultural center for experiential archeology projects. Its operations include a staff of instructors, administrative support, and an Executive Director. A key offering is the first and only leatherworking vocational program in the United States featuring 12 weeks of hands-on skill development. The curriculum provides comprehensive resources to help individuals transform creative concepts into marketable products while fostering independence and sustainability through practical trade skills.
