The Maintenance Engineer Helper is a vital support role within the plant, reporting to the General Manager. This position exists to ensure the continuous operation of our industrial laundry facility by assisting Maintenance Engineers with equipment repairs, building upkeep, and scheduled maintenance. You will be an active participant in the daily rhythm of the plant, helping to keep machinery running smoothly and the facility safe for production.
Your day will involve a mix of hands-on technical support and general facility care. You will assist in performing mechanical preventive maintenance, inventorying spare parts, and updating equipment records. Beyond machinery, you will handle routine building maintenance tasks such as painting, lighting repairs, and general clean-up of the shop areas and production floor. The role requires a high degree of adaptability, as you may be called upon to work long hours, rotate shifts, or work weekends depending on production needs.
You will be working in the production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility. This environment involves large machinery and can present unique physical challenges. The workspace is non-air-conditioned, with internal temperatures often reaching 90 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. You will be exposed to significant noise levels, requiring you to shout to be heard, as well as variations in temperature, humidity, odors, and biological hazards.
Safety is paramount in this setting. You will frequently encounter confined spaces, chemicals, steam under pressure, and the need to climb or work in positions above and under equipment. The role demands constant physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds. You must be prepared to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, earplugs, and safety eyewear at all times.
Candidates must pass a background check and drug screen in accordance with applicable laws. Additionally, you must be physically capable of operating a forklift and will be required to pass the necessary training and certification before starting.
