About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated full-time custodian to join the Marple Newtown School District for a 12-month term. This position is vital to maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive environment for students and staff. The role involves performing a wide range of commercial cleaning and janitorial duties across school buildings and grounds, ensuring facilities are ready for daily use regardless of weather conditions.
As a custodian, you will be the first line of defense in upholding health and safety standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing floors, as well as cleaning and disinfecting lavatories and restrooms. You will also manage trash collection, perform minor electrical repairs such as ballast replacement, and operate specialized equipment like commercial vacuums and floor buffers. Success in this role requires the physical ability to lift heavy items, climb ladders, and the emotional intelligence to interact positively with students and staff exhibiting a wide range of emotions.
