About the Role
This position is critical to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHSS) within the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB). The role focuses on the ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancement of complex Java applications that underpin vital patient data systems.
The resource serves as a key partner in developing and maintaining automated processes to streamline business operations, ensure data integrity, and uphold SEM/SUITE compliance. Without this dedicated support, the department risks relying on manual documentation and screen planning, which can introduce errors, compromise data accuracy, and lead to the incorrect processing of sensitive patient information.
You will be integral to the full software development life cycle (SDLC), working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, write technical specifications, and design solutions that balance robust backend architecture with modern frontend experiences. The role demands a balance of deep technical expertise in legacy and modern frameworks while driving improvements in security and system reliability.
Work Environment & Location
This is a Hybrid/Local position based in Lansing, Michigan. The work schedule is non-negotiable:
- Onsite Days: Mondays and Tuesdays (Required)
- Remote Eligible Days: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
- Location Requirement: Candidates must be local to the Lansing, MI area (within 90 miles) at the time of submission. There is no remote-only option.
Interview Process
Candidates will participate in a 1-hour virtual interview via MS Teams. Video is required, and candidates must join from a laptop, being prepared to share their screen if requested. A screenshot photo of the candidate will be required for all interviews, and a vendor representative will be present at the beginning of the session to validate the candidate's identity.
Interviews are scheduled for the week of April 27th. Please note that candidates must meet all location and onsite requirements from the beginning of the process.
