Experienced Autonomous Rideshare Tester

About the Role

This position serves as a critical bridge between autonomous vehicle software systems and real-world road conditions. As a Commercial Driver, you will monitor vehicle software while upholding safe operational protocols and ensuring full legal compliance. The role exists to validate system performance through rigorous testing in complex environments, providing the high-quality feedback necessary to refine autonomous driving capabilities.

Day-to-Day Operations

You will drive test vehicles for 4–8 hours daily on predefined routes, navigating scenarios such as construction zones, roundabouts, and heavy pedestrian traffic. Your primary focus is executing specific test cases and documenting system performance with precision. This involves performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure sensors (LiDAR, Cameras, Radar) are clean and operational, while reporting any major concerns immediately.

Beyond driving, you will collaborate directly with Software and Hardware Engineers to troubleshoot issues identified during your shifts. You are expected to provide concise, high-quality verbal and written feedback on non-ideal vehicle behaviors and edge-case scenarios. Additionally, you will assist with vehicle logistics, maintenance coordination, and storage, ensuring the fleet remains ready for deployment.

Location and Schedule

This role requires onsite work in both Mountain View and San Francisco. Day and Night shifts are available to accommodate different schedules. Candidates must be comfortable driving for extended periods of 4–8 hours per day.
