As a DSRD Necropsy/Histology Technician, you will possess the competency to perform all aspects of rodent and non-rodent routine necropsy and histology procedures with minimal guidance. You will apply specialized knowledge in veterinary anatomy and histology to support daily tasks while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, EHS, and IACUC requirements.
In this role, you will execute necropsy and histology techniques directed by study protocols, ensuring proper collection, handling, and submission of specimens. You will communicate closely with pathologists and laboratory managers to maintain data integrity and full traceability of work. Beyond routine tasks, you may independently lead laboratory-based projects, adapt standard procedures to increase efficiency, and coach others on necropsy techniques and regulatory requirements such as GLP and animal welfare.
This position requires performing ex vivo work, necessitating the ability to wear appropriate PPE. The role involves physical tasks that may require lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending. Weekend and holiday work will be required, and the position is assigned to an on-premise location in Groton, Connecticut.
