About the Role
As a Driver Trainee, you will learn the essential functions of the Driver job, including the accurate and timely distribution of products to various customer locations. This role is designed to give you exposure to warehouse and other operational functions as part of the developmental process of becoming a McLane Driver. You will ride and train with a Driver Trainer, gaining knowledge of commercial driving regulations while observing skills in starting engines, approaching intersections, making turns, backing, parking, and maneuvering vehicles on the road and customer premises.

- check_circleManeuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure
- check_circleOperate truck safely in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- check_circleInspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection reports
- check_circleOperate Driver Delivery Handheld to document delivery receipts and product temperatures
- check_circleAssist the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises
- check_circleRide and train with Driver Trainer to learn commercial driving regulations and vehicle handling
- check_circleMaintain driver logs according to DOT regulations documenting deliveries and exceptions
Requirements
- verifiedHigh School Diploma or GED preferred
- verifiedAt least 21 years of age
- verifiedComplete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less
