The Fayette County Public Schools Special Education Paraeducator serves as a vital partner to certified teachers, dedicated to ensuring that students with special needs receive high-quality, inclusive instruction. This role exists to bridge the gap between educational planning and daily execution, creating a safe, supportive, and accessible learning environment for every student.
In this position, you will work closely with teachers and related service professionals to implement individualized strategies that promote student independence across all educational settings. Your day involves a dynamic mix of instructional support, health-related assistance, and behavioral guidance. You will help facilitate learning in classrooms, labs, and community-based settings, while also monitoring students in non-academic environments such as lunchrooms, playgrounds, and on buses.
Beyond academics, you play a critical role in student well-being. This may include assisting with health procedures such as tube feeding or medication administration, implementing behavior plans, and providing emotional support to foster a positive classroom atmosphere. You will also collaborate with families and staff to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
