A Digital Court Reporter serves as a critical technical partner in legal proceedings, ensuring the accurate capture of testimony through audio and video. This role is essential for attorneys who require a professional record of depositions, combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of legal protocols.
In this position, you will be present in depositions to set up and operate audio/video equipment, ensuring high-quality recording in ever-changing environments. Your day involves actively mixing audio tracks, monitoring for interference, and adjusting video framing to meet legal videography norms. Beyond technical setup, you will take detailed notes, create logs of speaker identification and keywords, and track key legal events such as objections and the introduction of exhibits. You will also swear in deponents and faithfully capture their spoken testimony under oath.
Success in this role requires a calm, neutral, and professional demeanor at all times. You will act as a troubleshooter for clients facing audio, video, or technology issues, both in-person and remotely. The position demands adaptability to unexpected circumstances and a changing schedule, which may include working after hours.
This full-time role is based in Roanoke, VA, operating on an 8:00 am to 5:00 pm shift. Candidates must have a reliable mode of transportation and the physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs to manage equipment in various settings.
