Job Overview
We are looking for a Design Project Manager to lead colocation and hyper-scale data center initiatives. This role covers the entire project lifecycle, from initial site due diligence through to construction administration. The position is primarily remote for U.S.-based candidates, with occasional travel required to meet with clients.
Compensation and Location
- Salary Range: $190,000 – $240,000 per year
- Work Model: Remote
- Primary Location: Arlington, VA (3101 Wilson Blvd)
- Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Direct data center due diligence and design teams to ensure projects satisfy client specifications, adhere to schedules, and maintain high-quality standards across all disciplines, including architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, fire protection, ICT, and BMS/EPMS.
- Program Management: Create and enforce comprehensive project and program management plans for multi-site operations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for client meetings and external stakeholder interactions.
- Change Management: Proactively identify, communicate, and manage project changes both internally within AECOM and with external clients.
- Problem Solving: Anticipate potential issues early in the process and devise creative, effective solutions.
- Reporting: Provide regular project status updates and resolve any outstanding operational issues.
- Business Development: Prepare technical and financial proposals for new data center design projects as well as add, move, or change requests.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong, trusting relationships with client stakeholders and procurement teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Ten (10) years of relevant professional experience, or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Architecture License.
- Twelve (12) years of relevant experience in design and/or project management.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification.
- Active or recent leadership involvement in data center and mission-critical trade organizations.
- Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, time-sensitive environments with minimal supervision.
- Strong team leadership capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
Employment Conditions and Logistics

- Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.
- Onboarding: All newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding session at an AECOM office location as a mandatory condition of employment.
