The Assessor's Office is dedicated to maintaining an equitable tax system for Coweta County by ensuring all real and personal property is valued at fair market value. This Grade 18 position serves as a critical leadership role within the department, operating under the general direction of the Chief Appraiser. The incumbent is responsible for the complex planning, organizing, and management of daily office operations, with a primary mission to develop an equitable tax digest by August 1st of each year.
In this capacity, you will supervise and evaluate staff, manage division supervisors, and foster a culture of fairness and accuracy in property appraisal. The role requires active collaboration with the Board of Assessors, the County Administration, and the Georgia Department of Revenue to ensure statutory compliance. You will also serve as a key public liaison, communicating with taxpayers, elected officials, and civic groups to maintain a positive image for the office and provide clarity on property valuation and tax matters.
Candidates must possess a valid Georgia Department of Revenue Appraiser IV certification upon hire, as well as certification by the Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board as a Certified General Appraiser or equivalent. The selection process involves interviewing prospective employees and consulting with section supervisors, with final selections reviewed by the Board of Assessors. A valid driver's license with a favorable driving history is also required.
