Universal Intermodal services all major US Ports and intermodal Rail Ramps, offering domestic door-to-door drayage to and from Ports, Rails, and Customer Facilities. Operating from 40 terminals and eight container yards, we provide Chassis, Containers, Drayage, and Services for Imports, Exports, and Domestic moves.
As a CDL A Owner Operator, you will drive the core of our logistics network, ensuring efficient movement of goods across the country. This role is designed for drivers who value consistency and reliability, offering a schedule that keeps you home every night with only occasional 2-day OTR trips. You will plan routes to meet delivery schedules efficiently, performing pre-trip, enroute, and post-trip inspections to maintain the highest safety standards.
Your day will involve close communication with dispatchers and customers to provide real-time delivery status updates. While the average start time is between 4 AM and 8 AM with an average of 50 hours per week, you will have the support of a 24-hour road service department and access to company-owned chassis to keep your operations running smoothly.
To join our team, you must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A and have at least 6 months of tractor-trailer experience with a clean driving record. Familiarity with GPS devices and the ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles are essential. Additionally, successful candidates must be able to obtain TWIC and Hazmat certifications within 60 days of their start date.
