This Data Entry Technician position offers an ideal entry point into the litigation field, providing direct support to the Department of Justice on large and complex technical litigation matters. Application and Hiring
This is an entry-level position requiring a minimum clearance of DOJ MBI. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Access. The role involves up to 10% local travel.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleNotify proper USAO employees of case openings and prepare individual case files
- check_circleDocket, maintain, update, and calendar all hearings and notices from Court Electronic Case Files
- check_circlePrint and place court documents into proper case files and input information into the database
- check_circleCompile bi-annual case reports for certification and distribute weekly court appearance reports
- check_circleProvide and maintain annual FOIA training to USAO staff and gather responsive information
- check_circleReview data and reports to identify errors and ensure proper format, spelling, and grammar
- check_circleMake required corrections to data and documents as requested by authorized USAO employees
- check_circleReceive, obtain, monitor, and maintain FOIA requests and lawsuits while notifying relevant staff
- check_circleTrack time spent on FOIA requests and prepare required reports regarding these requests
- check_circleServe as the District's Freedom of Information Act point of contact and manage FOIA requests
- check_circleInitiate and input new criminal, civil, declination, and Rule 5 cases into the database

Nice to Have
At least one year of legal experience. Familiarity with office automation software (e.g., word processing, docketing automation systems, email, litigation support software) and knowledge of their integration. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with computerized record-keeping systems and procedures. Knowledge of litigation processes, court proceedings, and legal terminology. Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical abilities. Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Access. Ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
