The Custodian at Lower Macungie Middle School plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. As a member of the Teamsters Union Local 773, you will ensure the maximum cleanliness and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds through diligent housekeeping and minor maintenance tasks.
This is a 12-month, non-exempt position operating on a split-shift schedule. The 2nd shift runs Tuesday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., while the 1st shift covers Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will report to the Night Foreman, Head Custodian, and the Facilities leadership team, working independently to manage assigned areas.
Your day involves opening and closing the building to maintain security, performing routine cleaning of floors and surfaces, and handling snow removal as needed. You will also conduct inspections, report maintenance needs, and manage supplies. The role requires the ability to read and write English, follow instructions, and utilize basic software for timekeeping and facility management systems.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and have documented experience in roles requiring moderate physical strength and coordination. The position is subject to the employer's discretion for updates and adheres to state and federal laws regarding reasonable accommodations.
