As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department operates smoothly and safely. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you assist in the practice of pharmacy in strict accordance with state, federal, and company regulations. Your work is essential to maintaining the integrity of the prescription process, from entering patient data to verifying medication accuracy and managing inventory.

You will engage with customers and patients by greeting them warmly and offering proactive assistance with products and services. Whether resolving issues, answering questions, or guiding customers to over-the-counter aisles, your goal is to ensure every interaction leaves a positive impression. You will model and share customer service best practices with the team, demonstrating key service traits such as courtesy, eye contact, and a dedication to servicing customers until they are satisfied. Building strong relationships with our most valuable customers is a key part of your daily responsibilities.
Your day-to-day operations involve utilizing pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately. You will be responsible for filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, while carefully checking for possible interactions. If you hold PTCB certification, you will also have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.
Safety and compliance are paramount. You will strictly adhere to the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policies. Any prescription errors must be reported immediately to the pharmacist on duty. Beyond clinical support, you will handle cash registers, process manual claims for third-party programs, and assist with inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments. You may also assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting and labeling patient samples, and supporting the coordination of healthcare clinics.
We are committed to your professional growth. You will be expected to earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, PTCB certification is required. You will attend regular training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
