About the Role
As an Owner Operator with Viking Land Transportation, you will handle dry van and refrigerated line haul freight across OTR routes. This role is designed for drivers who value independence; there is no forced dispatch, allowing you to maintain control over your schedule. You can expect to average between 100 and 3,500 miles per week, with the flexibility to stay out longer if you choose.
The position offers a partnership model where you retain significant earnings potential, receiving 74% of the line haul rate plus paid fuel surcharges and added bonuses. Settlements are processed weekly via direct deposit, with no escrow accounts or upfront sign-on fees required. Fuel taxes are calculated and filed on your behalf, and fuel discounts are available to help manage operating costs.
Home Time & Lifestyle
While the typical run involves being out for 14 to 21 days, the schedule is flexible. Drivers are guaranteed to be home at least one weekend per month, with the option to extend time on the road if desired. There is no driver load or unload requirement, allowing you to focus on driving.
Hiring Process & Orientation
To join the team, candidates must hold a valid Class A license and possess at least 12 months of tractor-trailer experience. A lease purchase program is available for those interested in ownership.
Please note that the orientation process is not paid and does not cover accommodation, meals, or travel expenses. During orientation, drivers are provided with their own room, but all other costs are the responsibility of the driver.
