About the Team

Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS) is a dedicated, innovative, and student-centered organization within the Division of Business Services. RHS oversees on-campus living and dining, as well as conferences and events hosted at the University. The team works closely with campus partners to deliver services that support both the living and learning experiences of Penn students, residents, and guests. The Building Operations Coordinator (BOC) serves as a critical ambassador for RHS and the University, building strong working relationships with internal and external partners including College Houses and Academic Services (CHAS) and Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES).

About the Role

The Building Operations Coordinator provides front-line operational leadership and customer service support for one of eleven College House Information Centers. This role is designated as University "essential" personnel, granting the autonomy to make daily operational decisions to ensure service excellence. The BOC is responsible for the safety, appearance, and overall condition of College House facilities, playing a pivotal role in managing student staffing, facilities coordination, and resident and guest services.

During business hours, the BOC has full responsibility for assisting in their assigned Information Center. During non-business hours, the role expands to assume Residential Services Manager responsibilities for all Information Centers in support of the Housing Manager on Duty. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the BOC acts as a primary point of contact for staffing issues, emergency responses, and facility concerns, ensuring the Information Center remains a welcoming and functional hub for the campus community.

Key Responsibilities

  • check_circleConduct building condition inspections and report facility concerns to Facilities and Real Estate Services

  • check_circleMaintain accurate student assignment records and process move-ins, move-outs, and room turnovers
  • check_circleCoordinate emergency responses and contact security, medical transport, or other necessary entities
  • check_circleDevelop and implement plans to serve as a central information source for residential activities and events
  • check_circleMonitor desk supplies and inventories to ensure equipment availability and functional status
  • check_circleManage student staffing including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
  • check_circleSubmit weekly payroll for student and part-time staff and review shift attendance records

Requirements
