As a Biology Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year, you will serve as a vital member of the Dinwiddie County Public Schools community. Your mission is to plan and provide appropriate learning experiences that foster the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of every student. You will create a classroom environment conducive to learning, guiding students toward the achievement of Virginia Standards of Learning while maintaining a fair and just atmosphere.
In this 10-month full-time position, you will not only instruct assigned classes but also supervise paraprofessionals, volunteers, and substitutes. Your day will involve developing instructional plans, monitoring student outcomes, and communicating effectively with parents, staff, and the community. You will strive to implement the division's philosophy of education, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed.
Candidates must hold a valid Virginia Department of Education teacher's license or certification with the appropriate endorsement in the subject area. Those who have completed the requirements for a Virginia certificate and have filed an application, or who will qualify prior to the effective date of employment, are also eligible. Prior teaching experience and/or student teaching are strongly preferred.
All candidates must successfully undergo pre-employment screenings, including a Tuberculosis Screening, Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation, State Police Criminal History Investigation, and an FBI/National Criminal History Investigative Search. Additionally, as this position may require the operation of division-owned vehicles, the incumbent's driving record will be subject to periodic review to ensure it meets Dinwiddie County School Board policy standards.
