About the Role We are seeking a Biological Field Technician to join our team near Keyser, WV. This position is integral to our fatality monitoring efforts at a wind energy facility. You will spend your days conducting surveys for bird and bat carcasses, participating in persistence and searcher efficiency trials, and collecting precise data. The role requires long days in the field, often walking through tall grass in varying temperatures and wind speeds. While you will work independently for most of your survey days, you will maintain regular remote communication with supervisors and collaborate with facility staff.
Training and Equipment WEST provides comprehensive training for all survey efforts and job-related activities. We supply personal safety gear, including high-visibility vests and hard hats, as well as essential field equipment such as GPS units, compasses, tablets, and range finders. Technicians are expected to maintain this equipment in working order and provide their own suitable safety-toed footwear and field clothing.
Hiring Process and Application Interested candidates should review the benefits package linked in the job posting. Successful candidates must be able to start on June 22, 2026, and work through October 15, 2026. Applicants must be within a 45-minute drive of Keyser, WV, or willing to relocate. Those who qualify for housing assistance must secure a local rental lease with a primary residence greater than 60 miles from the work site. Following an offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check.
