Tarleton State University, a distinguished Doctoral National Comprehensive University, invites applications for a faculty position within the Division of Health Sciences. As part of a vibrant academic community dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service, Tarleton values innovation, collaboration, and inclusive growth. The university continues to expand its impact across Texas with four distinct campuses in Stephenville, Fort Worth, RELLIS-Bryan, and Waco, alongside a robust online community.
The position is based in Stephenville, the heart of the university's operations. This location offers a dynamic environment for faculty and staff, featuring a lively live music scene, numerous local festivals, and rich traditions rooted in the surrounding community. Whether on campus or online, faculty members are part of a mission that transforms lives and makes a difference across the state of Texas and beyond.
The Division of Health Sciences seeks to educate individuals who will develop into competent leaders dedicated to advancing wellness in the communities they serve. As the Division begins its inaugural Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Medicine, it invites applications for a Principal Faculty member. This role is critical to launching the program, with an initial 100% administrative load until the first cohort matriculates, transitioning to a 100% Teaching/Service load thereafter.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Director and the Director of Didactic Education to ensure the cohesiveness of the didactic curriculum. This involves designing and delivering classroom learning experiences and clinical skills instruction, while actively participating in programmatic data analysis, accreditation processes, and admissions. The role also emphasizes providing effective student advisement and mentorship, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in Physician Assistant medical education, scholarly activity, and servant leadership in rural health.
Applicants must submit a completed online application, a cover letter addressing qualifications, a Curriculum Vitae or Resume, at least three current professional references with full contact information, and unofficial transcripts. Applicants with degrees earned outside the United States must submit English-translated transcripts along with an official credential evaluation.
Please note that the application system allows only one opportunity to enter information and upload documents; changes cannot be made after submission. Incomplete applications or those containing "See resume" in data fields will not be considered. Review of applications begins immediately and continues until the position is filled. Official transcripts must be received directly from degree-granting institutions prior to the issuance of a letter of appointment.
Prospective candidates should be aware of specific immigration constraints. A Presidential proclamation imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Tarleton State University will not pay this fee; candidates requiring sponsorship should consult private immigration counsel regarding their status. Additionally, a Texas Governor moratorium on new H-1B filings (effective January 27, 2026, unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission) may affect the university's ability to employ candidates requiring visa sponsorship.
Tarleton State University is an Equal Opportunity/Veterans/Disability Employer. All positions are security-sensitive, and employment is contingent upon the institution's verification of credentials and the completion of a criminal history investigation.
