The Department of Clinical Pharmacy within the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is nationally recognized for its leadership in pharmacy education. This Assistant Professor position is a tenure-eligible role designed for a faculty member to practice as an integral part of the multidisciplinary teams in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at the University of Colorado Hospital. The CICU serves as a model site for student and resident training, currently supporting two general cardiology teams and one advanced heart failure/heart transplant team.
In this hybrid role, approximately 50-60% of your time will be dedicated to innovative clinical practice within the CICU. As part of the advanced heart failure service, you will actively participate in weekly heart transplant selection meetings and lead patient education for transplant discharges. You will practice in partnership with other faculty at the School of Pharmacy, engaging in scholarly and research activities that advance the field.
Beyond clinical duties, you will provide classroom-based and experiential teaching within the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, including both on-campus and distance degree programs. Responsibilities include directing courses, precepting students during Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs and APPEs), and mentoring. You will also establish a scholarly program focused on educational, translational, or clinical research, aiming to publish in peer-reviewed journals and secure extramural funding.
