About the Team

The University of Minnesota Medical School Department of Dermatology is a world-class institution committed to providing excellent patient care, conducting investigational research, and training the next generation of dermatologists. With world-renowned clinical programs, nationally recognized educational initiatives, and pioneering clinical trials, the department is dedicated to improving dermatological care for both the present and the future.

The campus offers state-of-the-art core facilities for biomedical research, including the Genomics Center and Imaging Center, which boast top-of-the-line novel spatial proteogenomics technology from Ionpath, 10X Genomics, and Nanostring. As part of the M Health Fairview shared care delivery system, the department collaborates with University of Minnesota Physicians and Fairview Health Services to combine academic and community resources, providing top-tier clinical care while supporting research and education across the joint healthcare delivery system.

About the Role

We seek outstanding applicants for a faculty position focused on skin immunology. This role is designed for a candidate with a research focus in inflammation, inflammatory dermatoses, immuno-oncology, immune checkpoint biology, and novel therapeutics development. The successful candidate will lead an independent, externally funded, and sustainable scholarly research program while contributing to the department's mission of advancing medicine.

The position is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. The effort split is 80% research and 20% clinical. In the research setting, you will oversee the development and completion of research projects, write new grant proposals to secure independent funding, and prepare manuscripts for publication. The clinical component involves seeing Dermatology patients in an outpatient setting, with some of that time dedicated to teaching residents and medical students. You will also participate in Department of Dermatology faculty and research activities and teach medical students and residents.

Nice to Have

Training in basic/translational immunology field with a focus on inflammatory skin conditions or immuno-oncology. Experience as a principal investigator developing grant proposal with evidence of success at obtaining research funding. Experience in novel research techniques such as spatial transcriptomics, organoids, multiplex quantitative immunofluorescence, multicolor flow cytometry, single cell sequencing. Evidence of excellent communications skills demonstrated by presentation skills. Evidence of research excellence demonstrated by awards, presentations and/or publications recognizing scientific excellence. Evidence of multidisciplinary collaborations. Active clinical license to practice Dermatology.
