Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will join a rewarding career in aviation-based law enforcement. This role is designed for skilled pilots seeking to apply their expertise in a high-stakes environment. You will partner with a diverse team to conduct air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities, monitoring suspect behavior and analyzing strategic intelligence to secure the nation's borders.
The day-to-day life of an AIA involves operating aircraft in all environments—from night flights and poor weather to low-altitude operations over unfavorable terrain. You will be responsible for making rapid, judicious decisions during in-flight operations while coordinating aircraft and ground assets. Beyond interdiction, you will also support search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
The application process is streamlined for qualified candidates, with a strong preference for seasoned pilots and those with military training. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will undergo a three-part assessment. Upon completion, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region (Southeast, Southwest, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch, or NASOC UAS locations).
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or genetic information. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes, and specific age waivers may apply for veterans and those with prior creditable law enforcement service.
